The most recent examples of my incompetence revolves around replacing a belt on my mower. Originally the belt jumped off the pulleys (7) that make the 3 blades turn in perfect harmony. Lucky for me, a nice young man named Adam help me replace the belt.....after we struggled for a while.
Why did we struggle, initially it was because the diagram on the mower isn't exactly the best. But, after a few minutes we managed to get the belt back on the mower. The belt broke a couple of weeks later.... forcing me to order a new belt.
Amazon delivers the world you know..... Hmm, but my son Brody and I struggled to install the belt. WTH, no matter what we did something was off.....we had way to much belt for the pulley system. I check, double checked, tripled checked and then asked my son to do the same. Each time confirming we had the right belt. My son was not convinced, but Google and Amazon confirmed the belt we had ordered (see what I did there....I said we ordered it, when the truth is it was all me....but since it didn't work I shared the blame every so secretly) was the correct part.
After a couple hours of cursing, ......we gave up. Up next was my son Logan, the Engineer, surely the mental giant of the family would solve the problem......2 hours later, he walked away in defeat as well.
WTH,......and then I realized the problem was missing COMMAS. Both Google and Amazon listed the required belt for my model as Belt -XYZ. There was another belt on Amazon, but it was listed for the mower model EXS. My mower is not an EXS..... However, both Google and Amazon should have said, the is the belt for models E, X and S. Or maybe E - X - and S........ But no, the listing and parts list said, ".....the belt fits the model EXS.......
So, I ordered a belt for the mower EXS..... This time I turned to a 3rd son, Dillon....also an Engineer. He pointed out the belt diagram on the mower only shows 6 pulleys (there are 7) and that frustrated him. I laughed and said, just wait until you see the missing Commas......
The new belt fit perfectly......... After wasting hours and hours trying to solve a problem that should have taken 30 seconds I have a strong desire to tell both Google and Amazon to kiss my A,S, & S.........
