I love the dark......

Story time: .........if you follow me I have mentioned many times that I love the dark. (Stay with me, this story will take a few twist and turns)

My twin boys were 6 years old when the tv show Finding Bigfoot first came on. Because I am a shitty parent that show was PERFECT for my parenting style.

My strategy was to turn on Finding Bigfoot at nap time, and then tell the boys coyotes or......maybe a Bigfoot would eat them if their toes were not under the covers. Imagine this......two boys, 6 years old laying perfectly still under the covers, eyes closed, trying not to move for fear of being eating alive...... Worked like a charm, the boys would fall asleep in just a matter of minutes. I would assume the combination of laying perfectly still, totally quiet and warm snuggled up under the covers played a huge role in the process....... By the time the triplets were 3 years old Finding Bigfoot helped all 5 kids sleep.....Madison and Cameron scared nearly to death would insist on laying near me (Nap time for Dad too). Brody insisted on being between his big brothers....for protection.

I use to take all 5 kids out at night, using the dark as we hunted for Bigfoot. Did we have any success? Well,....several nights I discovered a few kids scared shitless.... (I told you I was a shitty parent)

Tonight my drive home got me to thinking about the dark, it takes me 1 hour and 20 minutes to about 90 minutes to get home from St. Louis. I often make the drive around midnight.....which gives me a lot of windshield time.

Once upon a time I would fill windshield time talking to Tonya for hours on the phone...... atlas it would seem I am no longer interesting enough to bend her ear. Which gives me time to think about the good ole days.....like hunting for Bigfoot with the kids, or my P.I. days.

The absolute worst Private Investigators are former police officers, and the more experience they had.....the more they sucked! My theory was they wanted to be seen as cops....they might not admit that fact.....but their ego would often override the need to be invisible......

If you have access to the Southeast Missourian news paper from the 1990's and you look hard enough you can find a story about an off duty officer (police academy instructor too) That made an arrest of a suspect in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The article made the man out to be a hero.........piece of shit is what I thought.

So why do my opinions vary from the news paper..... Well, you see I was the guy on foot hiding in the dark, depending upon an instructor from the police academy to cover my butt if things went bad...... They went bad, but instead of protecting me he was off playing hero across town. I never worked with him again.....but he did sign off on my shooting the last time I had to qualify. Hmm, should I mention I out shot him....

Do you like the dark? Everyone at least once should experience what it is like watching someone, trying to get video evidence of what they are doing and not get caught. The experience of being by yourself, while you sit perfectly still (more likely laying down) in the dark will test your spirit......balls too.
