Dad was a made in America kind of guy - Ford trucks, Chevy cars, IH tractors, Snapper lawn mower, GE products in the kitchen with Zenith radios and televisions filling our home with sound. Zenith closed their last plant in the United States 6 years before dad's passing.... I wonder what he would have done if he needed a new tv near the end of his life?..... Dad's experience with World War II was the major reason he believed in buying American made products.
Within 20 years of dropping atomic bombs on Japan it seemed everything being sold in the USA was stamped "made in Japan." That was hard for dad to swallow......
Some of dad's friends had bought a Japanese vehicle as soon as the 1970's. More than once dad questioned if they had forgotten WWII, and then would specifically ask about their memories of a few men that died at the hands of the Japanese.....
In the early 2000's my wife and I purchased our first Japanese made vehicle (we still own one today). I remember saying dad would be disappointed in us, and one of our nieces wanted to know why? When I explained because of the war.....she expressed her opinion on how dumb that was. (I instantly remember why everyone in the family disliked her)
In 2008 when the United States elected a president with the middle name Hussein less than 20 years after we went to war with a country led by Saddam Hussein I shocked..... How could America not remember the gulf war?
Then when New York City elected a Muslim mayor just a quarter of a century after 9/11..... I realized just how true it is that America has changed... Our population doesn't honor our history, or the lives given up to defend our great nation.
I no longer believe the United States will survive as a nation, at least not a nation the Greatest Generation would recognize or be proud of..... In my childhood everyone knew the Communist were the enemy, but in 2026 so many Americans proclaim they are Democratic Socialists playing word games with Social Democracy vs Democratic Socialism....when the truth is they are primarily looking for a free ride and the most tasteful way to say they intend to redistribute the wealth.....
Isn't it ironic that every politician that wants to take from the rich somehow ends up wealthier on a government salary...... I remember being in college back in 1992 when Bill Clinton won the presidency. I was older, a non-traditional college student forced to watch the 18-22 year old crowd drink the cool-aide proclaiming Clinton and his policies were the solution to a great future. Today, almost 35 years later 90% of those liberal kids from 1992 have their wives wear Melania Trump "night wear" on Saturday nights....and deny ever supporting the Clintons.... So maybe, just maybe America's youth of 2026 will grow up before they destroy America!!!
For the world's sake, I hope so.
