Thirty some years ago a gentleman was murdered and I ended up buying his car, a 1981 Trans Am. Just a kid when Smokey and the Bandit a hit movie made the Pontiac Trans Am the dream car of nearly every red blooded American boy, I too dreamed of owning one.
Turns out I owned a couple of them, but the Brown Hornet was my favorite....even if it seemed a little haunted at times. And by haunted I mean it had electrical problems....like a lot of Trans Am's are famous for...... But, when that turbo kicked in nothing else really mattered!!! Hmm, maybe the car really was haunted.......
The turbo was set up in 3 phases....each would push your butt a little deeper in the seat as the car lunged forward 20 mph faster with each boost of power. All these years later whenever I see an old Trans Am for just a moment my mind thinks, ".....I'd like to have that......" and then I think, "......can you imagine getting in and out of a car that low to the ground......" and I quickly dismiss ever owning another......
What was your dream car.... Were you lucky enough to own one, or are you still dreaming?
