Have you ever hated someone?

Story time: .....have you ever hated someone? Have I? Wow, what a question...

Hate is a horrible thing.... it can consume you. To answer the question, yes.... in the past I have permitted hate to slip into my heart.

I could argue that my feelings were justified... I could name people that did me wrong, I could also tell stories of how I..... hmm, this next line could be a slippery slope. Maybe it is best to just say, there was once a time I would have.... dealt with them.
I am not perfect, I still battle my demons...it would be so easy to ....I have an unique set of skills....I could settle some issues. But, as the good book says, "....vengeance is mine I will repay, saith the Lord."
Having the patience for God to get around to vengeance can be overwhelming....I used to see it as a weakness to not respond to being done wrong..... But maturity has let me learn true strength is having the will power to not kill someone. Oh, don't get me wrong I may still get angry, but I have learned to not let hatred consume me.
That maturity lets me feel pain for so many in today's world. I am a student of history, and I feel the 2020's compares with the 1750's and the 1860's. The people in this great nation are a ticking time bomb....the only question that remains is will commonsense prevail in time.
Disclaimer, I am a card-carrying member of the GOP. I know the party is not perfect, but it is closer than any other viable answers...at least in how I see the world. I don't want to get into word games, for the purposes of this talk let's assume Democrat and Liberal mean the same thing, at least in this essay.
Liberals have let themselves become consumed with hatred. Much of which, maybe all of which is focused on their dislike of Donald Trump. If you are a student of history, recent history you probably remember when George W. Bush was seen as the evilest person in the world.... at least if you listened to what was said about him by Liberals.
Here is just a little reminder, it was said he was dumb.... they said he didn't deserve to be where he was in the world... they said he was a cheater.... they said he would destroy the world. Nearly every claim that are currently being made about President Donald J. Trump was first said about President Bush. Then once he left office, the complaints stopped.... Now think about today, the horrible statements made about the Trump family..... 25 years ago those same type of statements were common about the Bush family. But once he left the public eye.....the Bush family was forgotten, the hateful comments stopped.
The Democrat propaganda machine is real, and very good. But, let's stop right there....I want to acknowledge the GOP has an equally strong propaganda machine. Both sides of the political battle tell the best story they can to present their arguments to the voting public.
I am amazed how many Liberals have thrown away their lives because they believe propaganda. Of course, I am equally amazed how many Conservative post some of the most idiotic things that are clearly propaganda from the far right.
If this nations is to survive, we must learn how to talk, to disagree and reach compromises without hatred and/or violence. We need the young to have wisdom far beyond their years and word smiths like me to refrain from taking advantage of idiots that will believe anything they read in print or online.
The next time you see a person on either side of the political spectrum spreading their hate remember this essay. But more importantly, remember not to let propaganda impact your actions or your opinions on the world. It is ok to have varying opinions, we don't all have to agree how to fix the world, but we can't let opinions different from our own lead us to hate the other person.
