I moved to St. Louis in April of 1999, leaving behind life on a farm and a small town existence to live in the city. It was a different life from anything I had known before, but nothing I had ever seen would prepare me for what happened in the early morning hours of January 5, 2000.
I was the manager of a production facility, responsible for the crew that worked 3:30 pm until 1 am. We were working overtime, and I was already exhausted by the second work day of the week. New Year's Eve was huge, watching the date changed from 1999 to the year 2000.... the parties and long hours were taking their toll on me.
My crew may have left at 1 am, but it would take me another half hour to wrap up my paperwork and limp my way out of the building. My route home would take me down interstate 70, until I headed South on interstate 55. Still in the city limits of St. Louis city I reached the area where the Mississippi river flows closest to the highway. The closest offramp coming up was North Broadway, back in those days a few hundred yards North of the exit was a Big Lots and that is the exact location where I saw something that didn't seem possible.
Flying a few hundred feet above the ground was an object like I had never witnessed before..... the only words that come to mind would have me describe what I saw as a 5 story building, moving through the air.
The building was headed East to West, and low enough to the ground that I could make out windows on the "ship." I took the Broadway exit and tried to follow, but the UFO was flying too fast for me to keep up on city streets that didn't match the flight course.....
Within a matter of minutes I would hear police reports from several officers describing what I had seen. In the coming days the story would be told around the world, with people hearing of the event forming their own opinions of what took place.
Only 1 of the police officers saw windows on the UFO, the other 4 claimed it was just a cube shaped object. I do not know why we saw windows.... were the lights on? Did we just have the right angle, is it possible there were multiple UFO's out that night.....
Questions that I have, was the UFO something that exist because of aliens or is it some secret government operation..... What I do know is the event took place and it impacted my life forever.......
Since January 5, 2000 I have not ever just walked outside my home.... Any time I leave my home I pause at the door, and look to the sky to see if anything is flying overhead. In my every day life I find myself scanning the sky looking for UFO's.......
What did I see? The honest answer is I have no clue...... my brain tells me it is some top secret government program. Well that is what I think most days, .....but there are other days that doubts slip in and I think aliens have visited our area.....
I saw it..... I know the police officers were telling the truth..... But what exactly did we see?
Have you seen something you can't explain? A good friend once told me he saw a Bigfoot, I believe him....he's never lied to me that I know of, and it impacted his life to the point I have to believe him......
