Are we all telling the same story?

Story time:.......if you read my stuff, you know I have said, "......it is all in how you tell the story!" a million times.

I once got paid to prepare people for giving depositions. I was good.... some would say the best! I would spend hours prepping them to testify, but the recordings would appear a if they were being questioned for just 30 minutes or so. When the apposing council would hear what we had they would blink, stutter and advise their clients to settle......

"It is all in how you tell the story"...... I spent hours learning what questions to ask, and more importantly discovering what questions not to ask...... Educating my clients on what to say, and more importantly what not to say was the key in "how we told the story."

Most people don't truly understand..... I always laugh when people say, "...why can't things be like they used to be when Walter Cronkite just told us the truth on the news. OMG, no.......OMFG, I say that because Walter Cronkite spread more propaganda than probably any man in his generation. In his autobiography he laughs about spreading leftist propaganda and said he couldn't believe no one called him on it..... The honest truth was he knew how to tell a story.......

The way a story is told depends on who is telling..... Don't believe me? Then answer this question, "......what was the major event happening around the world in the first half of the 1940's?

I would bet most of you were jumping up and down, waving your hand mentally screaming World War II. It is probably also true you feel completely confident in your answer....but again, it is all in how you tell the story......

The Soviet Union, and now the country known as Russia doesn't call the war, World War II......instead they refer to it as the Great Patriotic War. The nation had a completely different experience than did America.

Russia is far from the only such example....but most Americans are clueless that other nations and people don't see the war through our perspective.

China knows our WWII as, the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Not to mention it was a time of civil war in China. If you don't understand how Taiwan came to exist......then you have never studied Chinese history.

The Japanese have 3 names for WWII......all three of the names used in Japan apply equally, the first is the Pacific War. The second name used is the Greater East Asia War and my personal favorite is the Fifteen Years' War (1931-1945).....most Americans think WWII began December 7, 1941 and for the USA they are sort of correct....but we secretly had Americans fighting the Japanese for years (google the Flying Tigers)

In Italy, WWII is known as the Italian Civil War and also as the War of Liberation......

One of my favorite alternative names is the Phony War......so called because when it first started everyone sort of sit on their hands and said, "...oh shit, what should we do.....and at first they did nothing....." You may remember in 1990 when the world went after Iraq one of the major reasons was because the world's consciousness remembered Hitler could have been crushed in the beginning with very little effort and they were determined not to let Saddam Hussein be the second coming of the Nazis....

Every aspect of life is "all in how you tell the story"......it is crucial that you also understand that life is also "all in how you listen to and understand the story!!!"
