Story time: ..... I walked into church this morning at 6:30 am, as always I was wearing (concealed) my Springfield 40, 16+1. I sat down in my chosen pew, then I prayed the rosary and then sat quietly waiting for Mass to start at 7 am.
Some of you may be thinking.... wearing a Gun to church, what the hell is wrong with this guy? Personally I am thinking, ".....in today's world you never know who or what will walk into a building... any building and you better be able to protect yourself. If something goes "sideways" I want to be able to deal with the situation!
Yesterday my girls played a flag football game in Kansas City..... I assure you they were just as protected as church was this morning! My girls have never took part in a ball game that I wasn't sitting nearby arm and ready to defend them. You would never know to look at me, I look like any other old man watching his kids playing a game they love. However, I spend as much time watching those around me, who comes in...who looks questionable.... who might be a threat.... deciding who I would "deal with" first.... You know what they say, "God helps those that help themselves."
Which brings me to today's thoughts. The Bible never says that God helps those that help themselves...... But I bet almost everyone reading this little essay of mine has heard that quote. Then again you have probably heard a lot of claims about God that cannot be backed up by the Bible.
The honest truth is a lot of people that claim to be Christians don't understand the basic foundations of the religion, or what the Bible says about their choices. You can see or hear examples every single day of so called Christians making claims that are clearly not based on Christianity. Seldom are they challenged, and honestly if it weren't for Facebook we would never hear or see what they state. But let me be clear, if it was a sin in 1900, it is still a sin in 2026......
