Happy Birthday #21

5-23-2026

Story time: .....21 years ago today I was yet to be a father. After 38 long weeks Tonya and I had finally reached the journey, and May 23, 2005 we would wake up excited to head to Mercy St. John's. I was nervous, and excited....... and about to experience one of the 3 greatest days of my life (June 3, 2000 - married & November 23, 2008 - triplets were born)

21 years later I laugh at a lot of parents......especially the parents of just 1 child...... Is having just 1 child even a challenge...... I often think if we had just 1 child, I could probably have another hobby. Yes, I know a lot of parents of singletons are rushing to type some response, but nothing they could say would matter......

Dillon was the first out, my oldest. His name was not the first one I wanted, as a Junior I long thought my first son would be a 3rd..... And he would have except.....for the fact that conversation happened with a girl that was not Tonya. A dozen years before I had plans with another young lady that we would name our son Jeff #3, and call him Trey. Tonya knows about that because she found a love letter that young lady wrote to me.....and instantly said, "......oh hell no, that will never happen!" and so it did not. My dad and I always watched the tv show Gunsmoke together, Matt Dillon was my hero as a kid....and thus the reason Dillon is named Dillon.

Dillon was of course a twin, in one of the last Gunsmoke shows Matt Dillon fought a man named Logan.....and thus both names are a tribute to my love for my dad.

If you know our family you know we have 2 girls too. And as I mentioned me and the girl that will never be named (Amy) had picked out a girl name too. As you can imagine that girl name was not going to be used by Tonya and I either....but what you might be shocked to know was the name did get used. Three months before our girls (Madison & Cameron) were born the other young lady gave birth to a daughter and used the name we had picked out (Veronica). I wonder if her baby daddy knew........?

Dillon was just under 7 lbs, and Logan came out swinging at 8 lbs 1 oz. What a feeling....... The greatest high in the world is becoming a daddy!

Tonya has been the GEATEST mom any child could hope to have.... and I have tried to keep up. I am not a nice person, it is true I will have my children's back, but at times that has meant standing by quietly while dad dealt with an issue.......

May 23, 2026 my boys will 21 years old...... Currently they just completed their junior years in college and will graduate next year with degrees in Engineering Management. I couldn't be prouder!!!

If you happen to run across my boys, wish them a happy birthday..... and maybe more importantly tell Tonya how great of a mom she is!!!! We never stepped foot in NICU, that woman is one hell of a baby factory!!! She is also the glue that holds our family together, I can't imagine a life without her!

Happy Birthday Dillon and Logan!!!!
