The Class of 1985

A look back in time, to when we knew it all....

Story time: .......sometimes I think my path in life should have seen me become the author of a newspaper column. Sort of an Andy Rooney kind of guy that tells a different story everyday about a common part of life that you have never really thought about.....or better yet something we have all thought about.....but assumed we were the only ones.

High school seniors will be graduating in the coming weeks....I have a different take on high school graduation, (I think it's expected...and the fact we celebrate it is....sort of dumb) grab a drink and prepare to argue with me. I graduated from high school 41 years ago..... Dear God, for something that at times seems like yesterday was a long time ago. My fellow graduates gave me three honors back in 1985,.....

I was voted Most Likely to Succeed.

I was voted Most Organized.

I was voted Biggest Pest......no shit, they nailed that one.

Every time in my life when I fail, I think back to being named Most Likely to Succeed and think, "F'ing idiots" and then when I am late because I can't find my keys.....I think, "F'ing idiots" and then when I piss someone off.....I think, "Damn Straight!!!!" I graduated with some smart people.

I am not certain about my first two awards, but I am 100% sure I was the Biggest Pest. Believe it or not, a few of the people I went to high school with rejected my Facebook friend request. Yes, it is true.....imagine still being bitter 4 decades later, just because I said out loud something everyone else knew was true.....but didn't have the guts to say to your face..... This is where a GREAT girl by the name of Kelly is screaming, "Matt it's your baby...."

I no longer talk to the kids from high school every single day.....But Facebook lets me follow their lives from afar. I have learned a lot from Facebook, like the good people are still good people, I am still the Biggest Pest and the sluts from the 1980's post the most Bible verses in 2026.
