The look of a Demon
6-7-2026
Story time: ........when I was a young man, hmm no, I was more of a kid than I was a man..... a preacher moved into my home town, with his young family. He was very charismatic and the town seemed excited.
Then he seemed to morph before our very eyes, have you ever read the book Animal Farm or at least seen the movie? This young charismatic young family man began to grow his church, for the first time in years the seats were filling up, excitement was abound.
Some people never attend church because their lifestyles don't exactly mesh with being Christians. Now don't get me wrong, we all sin..... I have committed some bad ones (those are between me and my maker.... and when I became Catholic I had to do a full confession.... which covered 1967 - thru 2006..... Holy Crap, between 1989 and 1998.....that young priest got an education.....) I always wonder what a priest thinks we you begin by saying, ".....are you sure this is just between us....."
Whoops, got to wandering there.... back to the 1980's and this popular young preacher. He seemed off to me....something about him just didn't seem right. His wife, hmm.....how to say this, well let's just say she had a vibe.....
In time the preacher began to relax a few of the church rules...... It was sort of like a clearance sell at K-mart (everything was 30% off) so really it seemed 7 Commandments were enough...... some days more like 6.
People began leaving the church.... hmm, if by leaving you mean God fearing folks got pushed out and their seats were filled with folks that would make the ole crowd grasp their pearls.......then yeah people left the church, but the over all numbers grew.
Eventually the church split..... and in time the preacher left town. That is a whole different story, and if you take the time to do the research, court records (though hidden) can be found.
When the church was poppin' (I said that to be cool, that's what the kids said during some cool time in history.....maybe not this one though) they brought in a youth minister. A godly young man,...... allegedly. I say that because when we ran together, he would sort of let his hair down.
One day he tried to pull the God card on me, but I cut him off short and said, drop that bullshit with me. I was there when you did ........... the young youth minister never pretended to be a man of God around me again. When he was with me, he was a heathen.
Before my wife,....I lived a life and though technically I wore a white hat the lines were so often blurred I might as well have been a demon. Which brings me to the topic we are talking about today: what does a demon look like?
We all have heard you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.....what would ever make a Christian think the devil has not read those same words? Seldom is is sin introduced as bad right away. Addiction seldom presents a problem the first sampling.... you don't get fat with just one cookie..... someone seldom disappears the first time a person gets done wrong..... your first sin is seldom the worst one you will commit in time.
I have often wondered if more demons wear horns or dress as ministers? I don't trust cops and I trust preachers even less before I look into their lives. I tend to check out everyone I encounter more than once..... if we chat on a regular basis, I probably know your darkest secrets.... that is my darkest secret. I may never say a word..... but if the day comes I am locked and loaded with information. It's sort of like a "train station" of information......
When I walk into a church, and they act like I'm walking into a club..... my warning lights go off. When a warm up band wiggles their hips and their isn't a fat girl in sight.....sirens begin to go off. When fog drifts down from the heavens and huge screens flash messages including a Venmo link I start to doubt..... When the church brags about a mission trip to a beach front community in the tropics I start to look around, "asking is this a joke?" When a basic Google search links them to a sex offender and a cover up scandal I look at the pews (whoops, I mean stadium seats) filled with "Christians" I have my answer...... flies go to honey and demons flock to Christian majors.....
